As of March, 2026 The Kanaani cat breed is considered the rarest cat breed in existence, with only five known individuals in the breeding population. Rabbi Michail Salita and Liudmilia Vlasova are working on preserving and developing this rare breed.

Cats: WCF Best Cat Rankings: Greatest Number of Cats Within One Breed to Simultaneously Reach World No. 1 Positions in Different Categories Following One Show: 2. Kanaani Cats Haifa and Haya; Animal Chaplain and Rabbi Mikhail Salita.



On August 8–9, 2026, Kanaani cats Haifa and Haya participated in the WCF Jubilee Show in Vantaa, Finland. The two-day event constituted one official WCF show and marked the first documented participation of the Kanaani breed in an official competitive cat show.



Following the conclusion of that single show on August 9, both cats received WCF Best Cat ranking points and simultaneously reached world No. 1 positions within the Kanaani breed in two different WCF Best Cat 2026 categories:



Haifa became the world’s No. 1-ranked adult Kanaani.



Haya became the world’s No. 1-ranked Kanaani kitten/junior.



The official world-record result is therefore two cats of one breed simultaneously reaching world No. 1 positions in different WCF Best Cat categories following their participation in a single show.



Haifa and Haya are mother and daughter, making their achievement especially historic and distinctive.

The cats may be related or unrelated and may have one custodian, multiple custodians or co-custodians. The determining factor is the number of cats within one breed that reach separate world No. 1 breed-ranking positions as the direct result of participation in one show.
