Cycling: Backwards: 1 hour: Distance: 31 miles. On 24 May 2003, Markus Riese of Germany broke the distance record for riding a bicycle backwards in an hour when he achieved a distance of 18 mi. He continued cycling until he broke the 50-km record (31 mi), recording a world record time of 1:46:59 hours. BOAR
